During the summer Rovinj is a city full of life.
In the morning and during the day most people try to hide
from the sun and the heat enjoying the benefits of Rovinj's
beaches. Clear azure sea, jagged and varied coastline protected
by dense vegetation, as well as rich underwater, make ideal
conditions for experiencing perfect summer. The town centre
is rather deserted during the day. Apart from the ones living
and working in the city, not many will stroll through the
city before 7 p.m.
This, however, changes drastically after the first signs
of the heat letting up.
As you walk through the streets in the early and late evening,
even very late, you will meet a variety of people of all
age, walking, talking and sitting in one of many restaurants,
cafés, pizzerias and inns, or searching for the spirit of
some ancient times in the labyrinth made of stone, through
the narrow streets of the old city.
But
that is not all. Rovinj's summers are exceptionally eventful.
There is hardly an evening without some concert you can go
to, whether you prefer traditional local music, pop, jazz
or classical music. You can visit exhibits where many local
and foreign artists exhibit their works, well-known open-air
exhibit 'Grisia' in the old-town street of the same name,
theatrical performances, artistic happenings and many other
things.
In all this variety of summer events our biggest celebration
of the year proudly stands out, ' Rovinj's Night'. For three
days at the end of August tens of thousands of people gather
in Rovinj to celebrate enjoying music, dancing, tasty food
and drinks. At midnight of the last day all of us stand enchanted
and silent while witnessing the indescribable beauty of one
of the biggest fireworks on the Adriatic Sea.
